There’s a train pulling out of this lonely old trainyard
and the whistle is calling to me
as I toss my belongings up into the boxcar
I can feel the wheels breaking free
it’s just about midnight, and the big rolling headlight
burns a hole in the night with its flame

I’ve been here a year come December
trying to make me a place in this town
