When evil clouds surround you, don't lose your self control Get rhythm in your feet and music in your soul If Satan starts to hound you, commence to rock and roll Get rhythm in your feet and music in your soul You all want golden slippers, yeah Lose your weary blues Watch the road you're choosing, yeah one leads up to heaven! If you don't start repentin', you'll never reach your goal Get rhythm in your feet and music in your soul You all want golden slippers, yeah Lose your weary blues Watch the road you're choosing, yeah one leads up to heaven! If you don't start repentin', you'll never reach your goal Get rhythm in your feet and music in your soul

I sure had a wonderful time last night, least wise they tell me I did I sure had a wonderful time last night, I really blew my lid Went to a party, I recollect that much, But after four or five, you know I lost my touch I sure had a wonderful time last night, least wise they tell me I did I had a whale of a good time last night, I really got myself some kicks I sure had a wonderful time last night, it took me right back to the sticks Between that hillbilly band and old Uncle Zeke And that new moonshine they called "Sneaky Pete" I sure had a wonderful time last night, least wise they tell me I did Sure had a wonderful time last night, I don't know how I got to bed Sure had a wonderful time last night, come here, feel this lump on my head They say I got kinda noisy and started to shout Then four big bouncers grabbed me, but I threw them out I sure had a wonderful time last night, least wise they tell me I did I sure had a wonderful time last night, really had myself some fun Sure had a wonderful time last night, didn't get home until half past one You know I'd like to take you with me the next time I go But where the heck was it? I sure would like to know I sure had a wonderful time last night…

Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Standing on a corner, just shuckin’ the jive When you see my little boy, ask him to give you five Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Time and time waits for no man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand I’m standing on a corner, just shuckin’ the jive And if you see my little boy, ask him to give you five boodle-y-yabba Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand Hit that jive Jack, put it in your pocket till I get back Going downtown to see a man, and I ain't got time to shake your hand

I'm just a jitterbug, a happy jitterbug, I’m a jitterbug lookin' for a place to jive. I'm not a corny hick, I know a real hot lick 'Cause I'm a jitterbug, mighty glad that I'm alive Give me a solid sender, Not just an elbow bender Don't want no old time jazz, No razzamataz, just swing 'Cause I'm just a jitterbug, a happy jitterbug Just jitterbug lookin' for a place to jive The guitar man is crazy, say, he is a happenin’ cat He sure can make it swing when he's blowin' through his hat Just listen to that fiddler, she sure has got some licks And when that baby goes to town she soundin’ mighty slick And now here comes the bassman, he’s got some stuff to show If you’re lookin’ for that bottom line, he keeps it down below Now, listen all you folks and hear the drummer of the band Now I know that he's a drummer by that drumsticks in his hand So gather round me, all you cats, let each one do their part So come on everybody, the jammin's gonna start

When whippoorwills cry And evening is nigh I hurry to my blue heaven A turn to the right You’ll see a little white light That leads you to my blue heaven A smiling face, a fireplace, a cosy room A little nest that nestles where the roses bloom Just Molly and me And baby makes three We're happy in my blue heaven A smiling face, a fireplace, a cosy room A little nest that nestles where the roses bloom Just Molly and me And baby makes three We're happy in my blue heaven Yeah, we're happy in my blue heaven

When you got no more assurance than a great big hunk of lead If you don't respond to romance, Jack you're dead When a chick is smilin' at you, even though there's nothin' said If you stand there like a statue, Jack you're dead You been always kickin' ‘cause you stubbed your toes When you ups and kicks the bucket, just like ole man, Mose When you get no kicks from lovin', and you blow your top instead It's a fact that you ain't livin', Jack you're dead When you just ain't got nobody since you gone and lost your head Rigor mortise has gotcha man, Jack you're dead What's the use of havin' muscles when your life hangs by a thread If you ain't got no red corpuscles, Jack you're dead If you can’t get rhythm when the band comes on If you ain’t got no rhythm, man, you’re really gone Now you can’t go any further, when the news begins to spread All the cats will holler, “Murder!”, Jack you’re dead When all the breath leaks out of ya and your friends all gather ‘round your bed and they say, “Man, don’t he look fine!” “He looks so natural!” And when that happens to you brother Jack you’re dead

Money ain’t been a friend of mine, keeps you addicted to the bottom line Missed the turn, didn’t see the sign and man, you’re really gone Rollin’ high ain’t what you need, wallet ain’t nothin’ but a mouth to feed Squeeze a nickel, make the buffalo bleed, it’s time to carry on Money ain’t nothin’ but a misdirection, get your jive with the rhythm section What you need is a groove injection to get you flyin’ higher A steady vamp makes you want to dance, puts you down like you’re in a trance Fills you up with sweet romance and sets your soul on fire Searchin’ for the lining in a silver cloud, never gonna find it there If you ain’t gettin’ in the groove then man, you’re just a square If you can’t hear the music, buddy you’ve hit the end Just get you a solid eight to the bar ‘cause rhythm is your friend Searchin’ for the lining in a silver cloud, never gonna find it there If you ain’t gettin’ in the groove then man, you’re just a square If you can’t hear the music, brother you’ve hit the end Just get you a solid eight to the bar ‘cause rhythm is your friend So pick up a solid eight to the bar and let the rhythm be your friend

When I was a kid about half past three My daddy said, "Son, come here to me" He said, "Things may come and things may go, But here’s one thing you ought to know!" 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, That's what gets results 'Tain't what you do, it's the time that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the time that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the time that you do it, That's what gets results You can try hard, it don't mean a thing; Take it easy, breezy, then your jive will swing ‘Tain't what you do, it's the place that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the time that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, That's what gets results You've learned your A B C's, you've learned your D F G's, But this is something you don't learn in school; So get your hep boots on, and then you'll carry on, But remember if you try too hard, it don't mean a thing, take it easy… 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, 'Tain't what you do, it's the way that you do it, That's what gets results 'Tain't what you bring, it's the way that you bring it, 'Tain't what you swing, it's the way that you swing it, 'Tain't what you sing, it's the way that you sing it, That's what gets results

Gonna take a sentimental journey, gonna set my heart at ease Gonna make a sentimental journey To renew old memories I got my bag, got my reservation, spent each dime I could afford Like a child in wild anticipation I long to hear that “All aboard!” Seven, that's the time we leave, at seven I'll be waitin' up for heaven Countin' every mile of railroad track, that takes me back Never thought my heart could be so yearny, why did I decide to roam Gonna take that sentimental journey Sentimental journey home Seven, that's the time we leave, at seven I'll be waitin' up for heaven Every time I see that railroad track, it takes me back I don’t know why my heart should feel so yearny, why did I decide to roam Gonna take that sentimental journey Sentimental journey home I’m gonna take a sentimental journey, just to set my heart at ease Gonna make a sentimental journey, to renew old memories Gonna make that sentimental journey Sentimental journey home

A folk/Americana take on classic Jive/Swing big band tunes by multi-instrumentalist John Egenes and a few of his compadres.

Flutney Junction liner notes is available as a book, in Print and Kindle formats from Amazon. I decided to experiment with how we package and sell music. I wanted to do away with the CD, as they are fast becoming obsolete. Streaming is here to stay--at least, for a long time--but like many people, I miss reading liner notes. So, there's a book for those of you who like a tactile object to take home with you. In it you will find a QR code that you can aim your phone's camera at. It will take you here, where you can listen and read.

In addition to the printed book, you can click on the link above to open the liner notes in a cool FlipBook. If you open it in a new browser tab, you can listen to the music while you read through it.

The companion book is printed in high quality so you won't want to just throw it away. A must have, and face it.... it's the only thing here you actually have to PAY for. It's a small book, but packs a punch!

This album has ZERO commercial potential, so don't feel pressured to pay for it. It wants to be played, so download or stream all you want. Enjoy the simple things in life!

Thanks for listening,

--john
